Sharp AQUOS LC46LE700UN 46-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LED HDTV Review

Like D. Bortranger’s earlier review I also hooked up a watt meter ( UPM model EM100 ) and received roughly the same
results. Power saving off – 98 watts but the picture highlights were overly bright to me.

Standard power saving used around 80 watts, picture was dimmed slightly bringing down the highlights to a proper level
by my eye.

Advanced power saving (OPC) on standard settings ( min range -16 max range +8 functional setting) was 50 watts,
but the picture was too dark, so I increased the min range ( min range -8 max range +8 functional setting) which
brought the brightness up to an acceptable level for a dark room and the power usage up to only 60 watts! )

Now I just toggle between Standard and Advanced Power Saving depending on the room brightness.

I bought this Sharp model over their latest version (LC46LE810UN) because the new model is edge lit rather than a back lit LED array, and it has fewer component or S-video inputs than the LE700UN, plus of course the lower price since the
LE700UN is an outgoing model.

“Experts” can argue whether this or that brand / model has a superior picture because of “X” feature, I’m ecstatic
with this model because I have a big screen TV with a great picture that runs on less power than a typical light bulb,
and it’s made by Sharp, whom I’ve had a great track record with ( both of my previous Sharp 27 inch TV’s lasted more than
10 years without a single problem ). In my opinion, if anybody can build a bulletproof TV that will last, Sharp can.

Sharp LC32LS510UT 32-Inch 1080p LED-Backlit LCD HDTV Review

This latest addition to their small size Aquos sports some PQ improvements over the earlier models.
Black level is better, it’s actualy very impressive for a LCD this size.
Overall, the white level and contrast does suffer a bit, so you do not get that “pop” from black and white
movies.
Blue-ray looks very good, color is natural looking with a few addjustments, edge to edge detail and light
level is even, and I could not see any digital noise or artifacts. No pixelation, blocking “rainbow effect”
or dot crawling. Just a nice clean picture.

You do not get that “Wow” factor whith great looking Blue-ray discs, picture does not have that “3D” depth
that you get from the best plasmas, but it does look very good. The general contrast could be better, and the
detail level in dark areas are good but could also be better.

The whites do look white, but there simply is not enough brightness to give the picture that nice dimentional,
contrasty “pop”.
With a little adjusting (I setled with “Movie” picture mode) you get good whites with little “blooming” in the
contrasted details.
I also have not seen any motion blur or other motion artifacts.

The style is attractive and sleek, lots of inputs, and the stand is very sturdy and screwed into
the unit with 4 long screws. The stand does not swivel or tilt, just static.

I have not yet experimented with any broadcast materal, so I cant comment on anything but the inputs I mentioned;
Bluray and standard upscailling DVD. I also have not used the PC connection.

Overall, I am happy with this TV. It is NOT videophile quality, but it’s great for my bedroom.

Amazon’s price is good, you can find better, but this TV is not worth more that 0.00.

It’s a good LCD but it’s not THAT good!! and if your looking for that “Wow” factor, save your money and get a 50”
Panasonic plasma. They can be found for about 2 grand or a little under.

But if you can get a good deal on this LCD (like 0 to 0) I dont think anything out there can beat this in the
size class.

Recommended.

We bought this to protect a 52″ LCD TV after my 2 year old threw a toy at our 40″ TV resulting in a broken LCD. I found out the hard way that the extended warranty at the big box stores do not cover accidental damage even though I was told it would by the sales clerk.

The TV Armor does a great job of protecting the LCD screen which is the most vulnerable and most expensive part on the TV. It was very easy to install and does not detract from the quality of the picture one bit. The first night we had the TV set up, my wife made several comments about the quality of the picture with the TV Armor in place.

It seems to attract dust especially on the back side of the protector but the dust accumulation is only noticeable when the TV is off. Removing the TV Armor to remove the dust is quite easy. The instruction recommend you only use a lent free cloth to remove the dust by the way…

I would highly recommend this product as cheap insurance to protect an LCD TV especially if you have young children. You can find videos on youtube showing demonstrations of the product and how well it protects a LCD TV.

Toshiba REGZA 42ZV650U 42-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV with ClearScan 240, Black Review

I’ve been researching and saving for this TV for a long time. This TV by far was the best value for my money. I’ve looked at LG, Samsung, Sony, and a few others. I must say that so far I have found nothing to say that is bad about the Toshiba. If anything that I’ve learned so far is that all of the big name brand flat screens are the same. It really boils down to how much money you are willing to spend for the TV. I haven’t been able to really play with the color settings yet and haven’t been able to fully use the 1080p settings yet. DirecTV has screwed up my service since moving and they haven’t solved the problem since I’m paying for HD service and I’m not getting it. I’ve got a feeling that I’m going to dump DirecTV when my contract is up with them and get a package deal from Verizon since I’ve got FiOS internet at my house. The only time that I’ve use the 1080p setting is on my Xbox 360 and so far it has a better picture on my TV then my Brother-in-laws HDTV. I was hesitant to buy a LED tv because of the price. But after comparing the bulky looking LCD and plasma, this is much lighter to handle and beautiful to look at and worth the additional cost. I read a lot of reviews on Amazon.com for this product before I bought this TV. A lot of people mentioned something about having problems with images at the corners. I have had the TV for 3 months and have not noticed anything similar to that. The image quality is excellent and the colors are beautiful (specially in the Dynamic setting, the colors are so bright and clear that my eyes start hurting after few minutes of watching. My setting is usually at Standard for watching regular TV programs and ‘movie’ while watching movies.) I didn’t have to make any changes to the TV setting after I removed it from the box. Very easy to setup and has a lot of good features. Have connected my desktop and use it as a PC. So I have not used the infolink features yet. But movies from youtube and other websites are excellent. Very satisfied with the TV. Excellent purchase from Amazon.com with better pricing compared to other retailers.
